I’ve been promising an update on what’s been going on for the year so far and, well, here it is! That’s right, Samantha and I are going to be parents for the first time this September. We found out basically at the beginning of the year (January 2nd) and we’ve been having an absolutely mind-blowing experience riding this roller coaster so far. Needless to say that everything has taken a bit of a back seat.
With all of that said though, we feel like we’ve really got a handle on things and we’re really pumped about being parents and seeing where this adventure takes us. Things will be changing and time will, of course, be at a premium, but we love our photography and can’t wait to see where this awesome hobby/career takes us and our new family. One of the main changes will be that we are solely focusing on Ruddock Visuals moving forward. We’ll be keeping our old company, Ruddock Photography, around via the website, but we’re really only shooting our commercial photography from now on.
Beside that big news, I also wanted to share some personal projects I’ve been working on briefly now (much more to come later though!) as well. This year I’m taking my love for photography and applying it in a way that I’ve wanted to do for a long time now and that’s using this skill to give back and serve others. That journey to serve others with my passion has led me to an amazing group called We Will Speak that is working with aged-out foster kids to help them create change for such a broken system. The young adults we’re working with are some of the strongest individuals I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and I can’t wait to introduce them to all of you through photo and video more here in the near future.
I am also signed up and planning to go to Haiti very soon. I’ll be documenting the entire trip as I serve alongside some amazing people on a mission team with our church. We have essentially adopted a small neighborhood in the city of Gonaives. They have been their 4 or 5 times over the past few years – always to the same neighborhood – to help build a church, orphanage, and other facilities in the area to help the people in the area as they struggle through serious poverty situations. The stories I have heard so far have been spine tingling and I can’t wait to help tell their stories even more on the next trip.

I’ve also got some more awesome shoots coming down the pipeline soon as well as more educational videos focusing on post-production and how I edit portraits and sports shots.
