Oliphant Backdrop Reveal

A very quick and overdue post to kick off this week, BUT stay tuned because it is going to be a fast and furious week on the blog! We’ve got tons of stuff going on including another amazing Pro Triathlete being featured on the blog this week as well as the Magnolia Masters swim camp video so be sure to stay tuned!!!

Getting along with it now… At the end of each year we like to assess where we’re at with Ruddock Visuals and where we are wanting to go within the next year, 3 years, and 5 years. That’s a pretty basic staple for any end-of-the-year assessment for small businesses, and it helps us determine where we want to spend our time and investments into the business moving forward. This year we really wanted to focus more on the portrait side of our work and try to really master and better understand portraiture. One of the things I felt like I was missing was a quality backdrop that wasn’t just a plain white, black, or 50% gray. Those have always felt a little blah to me unless the situation really called for it. I wanted something like you see in magazines or in the works of Leibowitz and Winters. What I really wanted was an Oliphant backdrop. So that’s what we got!

As you can see in the video, these pieces are absolutely works of art. Sarah and her daughters have mastered the art of hand painting each one of these works for each client’s specific need, and it was an outright pleasure to work with them and create exactly what we wanted.

I had seen Oliphant backdrops for years and had never really inquired until the beginning of this year. The amount of feedback I received from Oliphant and how much they want to get it right was awesome. They worked with me to get the right amount of warmth, texture, light/shadow, and vignette I wanted in the painting and the results were stellar!

Not too long after we received the backdrop, we had the distinct pleasure of meeting the entire Oliphant team at their studio in Brooklyn, and I can’t wait to work with them again then next time we’re in need of a custom backdrop!
